Art Smart
The Art Smart Program is an educational, fun and hands-on way for students to learn about various artists' lives and their works. This program brings added enrichment of art and artistic theory into the classroom. The program which is run by parent volunteers began in 1999. Each year 3-4 different artists are introduced to students in grades 1-6. A 15-20 minute presentation (based on grade levels) is given to the class about the artist followed by an art project relating to the type of art or artist. Art Smart works hand in hand with the school art program by adding an important historical perspective, as well as building on the art techniques the students learn weekly.
There is an 8 year cycle to ensure that students will learn about new artists each year.
