Pro-Life Club
The Pro-Life Club meets once a month during a lunch period to pray together for an end to abortion, to encourage one another to continue praying daily, and to discuss pro-life events and issues at a very elementary level. Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to join in September. Prayer cards are provided to the students. The club members encourage one another to continue praying daily for their spiritually adopted baby. Students are educated about the development of the pre-born child.
In early December, Pro-Life Lifesaver candy rolls are sold in the cafeteria during lunchtime. Proceeds are donated to a local crisis pregnancy center. Then on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the unborn, we have a special prayer meeting that includes a fiesta lunch of tacos and nachos.
During the second week of May, the school and parish "Celebrate Life." It is a time in which special recognition is given to the sanctity and gift of life. Baby items are collected throughout the week at both the school and the church. Pro-Life Club members help organize the items, which are taken to a local crisis pregnancy center. Every other year in May, the whole school participates in a “Walk for Life.” When the club gathers for its final meeting in May, we say prayers of thanks. Birthday cake is shared, as we celebrate the lives of the babies we have prayed for.
