The Quiz Bowl is a team competition that tests your knowledge of all academic disciplines as well as pop culture and sports. Two teams of four students compete against each other with a lockout buzzer system. A moderator reads questions and students “buzz” in. If they answer correctly, they earn points for their team. All 7th and 8th graders are eligible to participate. Sixth graders can join the Quiz Bowl Club. Teams practice once per week on Thursdays from September through May. Participants can choose between the 7:00 AM or 3:15 PM practice times. There is a $30 registration fee.
Area schools take turns hosting tournaments on Saturdays. Our quiz bowl teams participate in approximately 4 regular season tournaments per year. St. Michael hosts the annual Blessed Angela Quiz Tournament (BAQT) in February.
For eight years in a row, the St. Michael Quiz Bowl team has participated in the NAQT Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT) in the spring.
