Theology
Curricular Goals
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Explore Salvation History through the Old Testament
- Emphasize the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Word Made Flesh in the New Testament and reflect upon the Gospel message
- Evangelize the student through prayer, worship, and discussion of Catholic doctrine
- Discuss of the Call to Action and Catholic Social Teaching

Literature
Curricular Goals
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Examine the elements of literature: novels, short stories, and poetry
- Implement close reading techniques
- Read, discuss, and interpret a variety of genres in fiction (mystery, dystopia, coming of age) and nonfiction (essay, biography, speech)
- Define, establish and reproduce key literary devices/terms and techniques
- Cite textual evidence and annotate
- Write literary analyses
- Incorporate metacognitive strategies for comprehension, vocabulary, and study skills

Curricular Goals
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Practice and emphasize conventions of standard English grammar and usage
- Utilize phrases and clauses to strengthen sentence structure
- Increase sentence interest with the use of transitional, prepositional, gerund, participial, and infinitive phrases
- Refine paraphrasing skills throughout the research process
- Develop vocabulary attack strategies: spelling, incorporation, and context
- Extend sentence diagramming skills
- Employ Modern Language Association (MLA) style in final draft writing

Curricular Goals
7th Grade Math
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Develop an understanding of operations with rational numbers and describe relationships between sets of rational numbers
- Work with linear expressions to add, subtract, factor, expand and rewrite equivalent expressions.
- Build off the understanding of linear expressions to solve one and two-step equations
- Model, write and solve two-step inequalities
- Develop an understanding and application of proportional relationships
- Solve problems involving scale drawings and work with two- and three-dimensional shapes to determine area, surface area, and volume
- Draw inferences about populations based on samples
Accelerated Pre-Algebra
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Develop an understanding of operations with rational numbers and describe relationships between sets of rational numbers

- Understanding and applying the Pythagorean theorem and its converse
- Solve problems involving scale drawings and work with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume

Students in 7th Grade will:
- Identify the ways cells contribute to the function of living organisms
- Compare how a system of living and nonliving things operate to meet the needs of the organisms in an ecosystem
- Explain how living organisms pass traits from one generation to the next
- Differentiate how organisms change over time in response to changes in the environment

Curricular Goals
Students in 7th Grade will:
- Define and elucidate an in-depth historical and anthropological study of six major ancient societies (Mesopotamia, Egypt/Middle East, India, China, Greece, and Rome).
- Explore a survey of major world religions with a focus on their origins and belief systems (Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and major mythological systems from the Near East/Mediterranean World)
