The Archdiocese of Detroit superintendent, Kevin Kijewski, released two important documents to all constituents:
Mandates schools must follow: Phase 4: COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for AOD Schools
Recommendations for schools: Unleash the Learning: Recommendations for Distance Learning
In the next couple of weeks, the SMA Return to School Team will be releasing our specific, well-articulated guidelines for reopening St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School to our students and families. We are so very excited to reopen our doors to our students, and we want our families to return to us with confidence that their children are safe, happy, and learning well each and every day.
Similar to the attached Archdiocese of Detroit Preparedness Plans, our SMA Return to School Plan will focus on three key areas: amplified health and safety measures in our building, increased digital platforms for student learning, and well-rounded remote learning programming (in the event that we return to this modality in the future). We know that families have many questions, concerns, and some anxiety. We are working very hard, taking our time, and making the best choices possible for our community--our SMA family. Things will look a bit different, but our students will know and feel that they are still at St. Michael by the love and consideration they will experience from our entire staff. We will continue to care for our students as we always would, even in the midst of these new challenges.
