Bowling at SMA
St. Michael school has many fine athletes and with the variety of sports that is offered, there is usually something for everyone! However, if your son/daughter doesn't really have an interest in the "more popular" sports, or maybe they are a bit timid about being on such a big team.... encourage them to BOWL! The best thing about the bowling program is that there are NO TRYOUTS and anyone that signs up is on the team!
Coach Laura Kuchinski - a St. Michael mom for 26 consecutive years - is a professional bowling instructor and the Head Varsity/Junior Varsity coach for Detroit Catholic Central High School. She has been coaching for 41 years and started the CYO Bowling program over 20 years ago. St. Michael likes to be represented with a Junior Varsity team of Fifth and Sixth graders along with a Varsity team of Seventh and Eighth graders; however, there is no limit to the number of teams we can have! St. Michael students practice on Monday from 5:30p till 7:00p but Coach Laura makes sure that homework is a priority and keeps practice flexible. Catholic schools from all different cities come out to Woodland Lanes in Livonia on Saturday afternoon from Noon till 2:00 p.m. and parents cheer on the kids that deserve recognition for this sport!
If you are interested in learning more about the bowling program or have questions about how well your kids will fit on a team, give Coach Laura a call and she will answer all your questions! This program is truly designed for kids with ANY ability - you won't be disappointed with the results! Interested in learning to coach? Have questions? Call 734-560-4660 Anytime!
